A Hunt can begin later in the same shift after a non-human customer gets away. The official survival options are to barricade doors, place traps, and hide. Two independent launch-build recordings also show a preparation objective to take a weapon from the storage room, followed by cleanup and a bus exit after the Hunt.

Key takeaways

  • A missed non-human customer can return later in the same shift as a Hunt.
  • Barricading doors, placing traps, and hiding are the confirmed survival responses.
  • Two July 22 gameplay videos show a storage-room weapon objective, but not a universal loadout or route.
  • Success means surviving and then following any displayed cleanup and completion objectives.

What the official pages confirm

The Steam and Xbox product descriptions confirm the high-level response:

  • barricade doors;
  • place traps; and
  • find a place to hide.

Steam's public achievements also confirm observable Hunt milestones, including surviving a first Hunt and a separate 30-second challenge. Other achievement text confirms a melee-weapon collection and weapon-rack objective. These facts prove that Hunts and weapons exist; they do not supply a best weapon, damage table, fixed timer, or universal layout.

What the July 22 gameplay videos show

Two independent July 22 recordings show a matching flow:

  • Mahchine, 32:58–38:18 shows the alert, preparation objectives, storage-room weapon, Hunt, cleanup, bus exit, and Night Complete.
  • StanleyMOV Live, 41:58–46:28 shows the customer phase transitioning into preparation, a weapon, the Hunt, cleanup, bus exit, and Night Complete.

Both videos show traps, barricaded doors, and a storage-room weapon objective. Randomized shifts, platforms, and later patches may differ.

Practical Hunt flow

  1. Read the alert and current objectives. Do not rely on a memorized timer; use the countdown and tasks shown by your build.
  2. Prepare the confirmed defenses. Barricade doors and place traps where the current interaction permits.
  3. Follow the weapon objective if shown. The two videos direct the player to a storage-room weapon. No official weapon ranking or loadout is available.
  4. Choose a survival response. Hiding is officially supported. Fighting or movement decisions still depend on the current threat and environment; no universal counter is currently documented.
  5. Survive the Hunt. Preparation alone is not enough; the public achievement list includes surviving a first Hunt.
  6. Complete the recovery tasks. The sampled launch builds show cleanup and a bus exit before Night Complete. Follow the objectives in your current build rather than leaving as soon as the threat disappears.

Preparation checklist

  • I read the current Hunt objectives and countdown.
  • Doors requested by the current UI have been considered for barricading.
  • I placed the traps requested by the current objective.
  • I collected a storage-room weapon if the current objective requested it.
  • I identified a hiding or survival option without assuming it is guaranteed safe.
  • After survival, I checked for cleanup and exit objectives.

What is not confirmed

The official pages and linked videos do not give:

  • a fixed Hunt countdown or objective order;
  • monster-specific attacks, weaknesses, or spawn rules;
  • weapon damage, durability, prices, or a best loadout;
  • trap effects, counts, or preferred placement;
  • barricade durability or exact timing;
  • a universally safe hiding location; or
  • whether every later shift and platform uses the same preparation UI.

The videos show different remaining countdown values, so neither value should be treated as a fixed starting timer. Surviving one layout also does not make that layout a universal solution.

How to know the Hunt is over

At minimum, survive the Hunt. In both July 22 videos, the flow then continues through displayed cleanup and bus instructions to Night Complete. Do not stop at placing a barricade or trap; follow the remaining objectives.

If your objectives differ, follow the current UI and latest patch notes. For the mistake that can trigger a Hunt, return to the investigation guide; for the full shift loop, use the beginner guide, or return to Guides.

Quick answers

What can trigger a Hunt?

A non-human customer who gets away can return later in the same shift as a Hunt.

What should I prepare for a Hunt?

Barricade doors, place traps, and identify a hiding option. The two linked July 22 gameplay videos also show a storage-room weapon objective, so follow it if your current UI displays it.

Do official sources name a best weapon or guaranteed safe spot?

No. The official pages and linked videos do not provide weapon rankings, damage values, trap layouts, monster-specific counters, or a universally safe hiding place.
